Glasses and contact lenses
Glasses: since the year 1300.
At its introduction you can imagine every average person thinking,
"glasses, no way, we don't know all the negative side-effects yet….let's wait for those to become apparent."
Contact lenses: Since 1960.
Just like glasses, contact lenses were not immediately accepted, although now they are considered very normal.
Nobody questions possible side effects or dangers associated with the wearing of glasses or lenses.

Advantages:
- Visual problems can usually be satisfactorily corrected.
- Aids are easily replaced.
- Easily applied.
- In many different shapes and sizes.
Disadvantages:
- They will always be aids with their own disadvantages varying for each person.
- Career choice can be negatively affected.
- Problems during sport activities.
- Frames can cause over-sensitivity and aggressive skin tumours.
- Contact lenses can cause over-sensitivity and corneal degeneration.
- Strong glasses can give disrupted vision along the edge.
- Chance of blindness due to glass wounds (car accidents, fights, etc.).
